Bespoke Wedding Rings Gold Coast | Cavetta Goldsmiths

A wedding ring should outlast trends, jobs, postcodes and the people who knew you before you wore it.

At Cavetta, we forge yours by hand - one ring, one couple, one quiet decision to invest in something that will still feel right in forty years.

The Cavetta process, from first conversation to final polish

We keep our process small and personal on purpose. A bespoke wedding ring usually moves through four stages over six to ten weeks.

1. Initial Consultation

Most clients begin with a quick email to our team. We talk about your story, your ideas for the ring, the occasion, your timeframes for weddings or gifting. There is no showroom pressure you are not walking past a glass case of options.

2. Design & Quote

Within a few days you receive a clear fixed quote for the design. You will see your ring laid out in 3D CAD rendering before a single gram of gold is touched.

3. Crafting Begins

Once you approve the design, we forge the ring at the bench. Bespoke at Cavetta means truly hand made milled, soldered, filed, and finished by a goldsmith.

Not 3D printed, not cast in a overseas factory, not assembled from pre fab components. If you have ever wondered why a handmade gold ring feels different in the hand to a mass produced one, this is why: the metal is denser, the edges are crisper, and the surface holds light differently.

4. Reveal and fitting

We ship you your ring via fully insured express shipping. If your ring arrives and needs slight adjusting in size, no problem we will arrange for you.

Timelessness over trend - the Cavetta philosophy

If you have spent any time looking at wedding bands online, you will have noticed something: every season brings a new "must have" hammered black tungsten one year, meteorite inlay the next. We do not design that way. We design for the person who wants their ring to feel as right at sixty as it does at thirty.

Our clients often describe the look as quiet luxury or old money, a ring that whispers rather than shouts. No flashy stones, no oversized logos, no novelty finishes. Just exceptional metal, considered proportions, and the kind of detail you only notice up close.

If you have searched for things like a wedding ring without a diamond, an understated wedding ring for a groom, or a plain gold band that still looks luxurious, you are already speaking our language.

Materials, carats and finishes

We work almost exclusively in solid gold - 9 carat, 14 carat, and 18 carat in yellow, white, and rose. We also offer silver and platinum.

We do not use hollow gold or filled metals. Every ring is solid all the way through.

Below is a quick orientation for clients trying to decide between options. We will walk you through this in detail at your consultation.

Option Look Durability Best for
18ct yellow gold Warm, rich, heritage feel Soft but dense, wears beautifully Old money aesthetic, heritage lovers
14ct yellow gold Slightly paler, still warm Harder than 18ct Tradespeople, surfers, active hands
9ct yellow gold Lighter colour, more economical Hardest of the three Smaller budgets, very rough wear
18ct white gold Bright silver/white Soft, requires rhodium top up over years Modern, minimalist, classic
18k rose gold Pink warm, romantic Slightly harder than yellow Couples wanting contrast or character

Finishes are equally considered: high polish, satin, brushed, hand hammered. We will guide you through the look and feel of each in person, because finishes read very differently in the hand than they do on a screen.

A wedding ring designed for your actual hand, and your actual life

Most off the shelf wedding rings are designed for a generic finger and a generic lifestyle. Bespoke means designing around the real one.

We have made low profile, scratch resistant bands for surgeons. Comfort fit 14ct rings for tradies on the Gold Coast who would have lost a thinner ring on a job site within a month. Wider, heavier signet styled wedding rings for lawyers and finance professionals who wanted weight without flash. Smooth interior bands for surfers who did not want anything catching on a wetsuit cuff.

If you have a profession, a hobby, or a hand shape that you have been worrying about, bring it to the consultation. It is the most useful design constraint you can give us.

Buying a wedding ring for him - without him knowing

Roughly a third of our wedding ring clients are women shopping for their partner. Often it is a surprise, a proposal, a vow renewal, a milestone anniversary, or a pre wedding gift.

If you are in that position, three things help enormously:

  • A photo of his hand resting flat on a table - palm down, fingers spread. We can read proportion from that.
  • A ring he already wears, if he wears one (any finger). We can size from it discreetly.
  • A sentence or two about how he dresses and what he does for work. That is usually all we need to start.

We have a separate guide on how to measure his ring size without him knowing if you want to read more before reaching out.

What a bespoke wedding ring actually costs

Pricing depends on three variables: metal type and carat, ring weight, and complexity of the design. As a guide:

  • A simple, classic 9ct or 14ct men's band typically starts from around the price of a quality off the shelf ring at a chain jeweller - but is solid, made for your finger, and will last generations.
  • Most of our 18ct yellow gold wedding rings sit in the middle of the range, and represent our most popular bespoke commission.
  • Heavier, signet styled wedding rings, or rings using a significant amount of inherited gold, sit at the higher end.

Every quote is fixed before we begin. There are no surprises at collection.

Why couples on the Gold Coast choose Cavetta

We are a small workshop. We take on a limited number of commissions each month so that every ring receives the time it deserves. Our clients are typically professionals, business owners, and creatives in their late twenties to mid-forties who have looked at the chain stores and decided they want something with more substance behind it.

If you value craftsmanship over branding, prefer a fixed appointment over a sales floor, and want a wedding ring that will outlive the era it was made in, you will feel at home with us.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a custom wedding ring take to make?

From first consultation to collection, most Cavetta wedding rings take six to ten weeks. If you have a hard deadline - a wedding date, an anniversary, a proposal - tell us at the consultation and we will be transparent about whether we can meet it.

What is the difference between bespoke and custom?

Custom usually means modifying a pre existing template. Bespoke means designing and forging your ring from scratch, beginning with a blank page. At Cavetta, every wedding ring is bespoke.

18ct vs 9ct gold - what should I choose for a wedding ring?

18ct has the deepest colour and the most heritage feel, but is softer. 9ct is harder wearing and lighter on the wallet, but pales over decades. 14ct sits in the middle and is the most pragmatic everyday option. We will walk you through each option physically at the consultation - the difference is far easier to feel than to read about.

Will a handmade gold ring scratch?

All solid gold rings scratch, it is part of the material's character, and patina is part of what makes a wedding ring feel like yours over the years. Cavetta rings are designed to scratch beautifully: dense metal, considered finishes, and re-polishable for life. We offer a complimentary polish for the lifetime of the ring.

Do you offer hidden engraving on the inside of the band?

Always. We can hand engrave initials, a date, coordinates, a short phrase, or a family motto in a style that complements the ring rather than competing with it. We will discuss engraving during the design stage.

Can you make matching wedding rings for both partners?

Yes and we often do. Matching does not have to mean identical. Many of our couples choose related designs that share a metal, a finish, or a hidden interior detail, while differing in profile and weight to suit each hand.

Do you make wedding rings that incorporate a family crest?

Yes. Cavetta has a long history of designing signet rings and crest jewellery, and we can incorporate a discreet family crest into the interior of a wedding band, or design a wedding ring that nods to a signet without becoming one. If this is what brought you here, you may want to read our dedicated page on family crest signet rings.

Do I need to live on the Gold Coast?

No. We work with clients across Queensland, interstate, and overseas. We can run the entire process by email or video call and post when needed.

Begin your bespoke wedding ring

If you are ready to start a conversation, we keep a small number of consultation slots open each week. There is no pressure to commission - most clients come in once, take their sketches home, and return when they are ready.
