The Delport Ring - A Family Crest Designed From Scratch
A family crest, designed from scratch, worn as a wedding ring.
Philip's first call to us wasn't about a crest at all. He'd been looking at our No. 6 band and was weighing up emeralds against dark green sapphires, a beautiful ring with an Australian sapphire. We invited him for a coffee in Brisbane to see the samples in person.
Somewhere between that first conversation and the design brief, the project changed shape. Philip didn't want a stone. He wanted something more, a Delport family crest that didn't exist yet, designed element by element to carry what mattered to him.
He created a sketch himself. An eagle at the crest's peak. A protea beneath it, its leaves cut sharp. Wreaths winding up from under the flower. An erased lion's head set into the left of the shield. The name DELPORT boxed into the shield itself - part of the structure, not floating above it.

Over several meetings we refined the design together, then worked with our casters on the hardest version of the craft: casting the crest directly into the face of the ring in solid 9ct yellow gold, every feather and leaf raised in metal rather than engraved into it, oriented to read true while the ring is worn.

From what started as a conversation after that first phone call, the ring arrived at Philip's door. His email that morning is one we've kept:
"I just received my ring. The work that you guys have done is staggering. I could honestly not have asked for a better outcome."
Philip was married wearing it. Not a wedding band with a crest on it - the Delport crest, newly made, beginning its life as an heirloom on the day his family grew.

Every Cavetta crest ring starts the same way - a conversation. Bring us your family's crest, or design one from scratch, the way Philip did.
